Arkansas Open Enrollment Information

An eligible individual under the age of 19 in Arkansas may apply for child-only coverage on a guaranteed issue basis during the open enrollment period or upon experiencing a qualifying event.

Open Enrollment:

Open enrollment is a month long period in October that occurs annually.  An application that is submitted during the open enrollment period or as a result of a qualifying event is not considered complete unless and until the applicant has supplied medical records requested by the insurer.

Qualifying Events:

• Within the last 30 days - Loss of employer-sponsored health insurance, either because a) the employer has ceased providing the health insurance, b) or the enrollee has lost health insurance coverage with the employer because of termination or employment for any reason other than fraud, misrepresentation, or failure to pay premium. 

• Within the last 30 days - Involuntary loss of other existing health insurance coverage for any reason other than fraud, misrepresentation, or failure to pay premium;
